Priyanka Baburaj

Head of Design | Fine Jewellery & Watches | Creative Direction & Brand Innovation

Hi,

My name is Priyanka Baburaj, a fine jewellery designer. Trained in fashion and lifestyle accessory design, I have also explored graphic design, UI design, packaging, and interior design whenever opportunities allowed me to wear different creative hats.

My work in jewellery has been largely focused on e-commerce, alongside select high profile bespoke projects. Designing pieces and presenting them thoughtfully in a digital space where they cannot be physically experienced has always been an engaging challenge for me.

Along the way, my work also gave me a deep appreciation for horology and the craft behind thoughtfully designed objects. I began my career in a large corporate environment and have also worked in small, close knit teams, both of which have been incredibly enriching experiences.

My work & How I do it

A showcase of ideas turned into reality, this curated set of projects reflect my creativity, skill, and passion. It offers a glimpse into the work I’m most proud of, along with the process I now follow to bring each project to life.

Where I’m Headed

I have always enjoyed working across different design disciplines and understanding how they are interconnected and support each other. This experience has helped me develop a more holistic approach to design.

My goal is to bring the knowledge and skills I’ve gained through my experience into a new team environment, where I can contribute meaningfully while continuing to learn. I’m particularly interested in helping develop products that not only reflect strong design thinking but also align closely with the brand’s identity and values.

Beyond the Studio

Outside of design, I enjoy cooking and hosting dinners, which I find to be both a creative and social outlet. I also enjoy hiking when I get the chance. I’m also an avid Formula 1 follower and really appreciate the combination of engineering, strategy, and design that goes into the sport.

Languages are another area of interest for me. I’m fluent in three and speak one at a conversational level. I’m currently considering either German or French as my next language, and I’m also interested in learning British Sign Language.

I’m naturally curious about how things work, which is why I’d love to develop a working understanding of watch repair. I’m also considering studying accounting on the side to gain a better understanding of the business side of design.
